What does Wildfire mean? All soccer clubs have a mascot, our's is “Wildfire”. The club founders were involved with SC Forestry Commission, specifically fighting wildfires. Thus the club mascot for Walterboro Soccer Club is “Wildfire”. All of our club teams choose team names associated with fire.
What does the “U” in U11 mean? It stands for an age bracket. “U” stands for “under” the subsequent number in age of a player at the beginning of a soccer year. The age grouping of players is transitioning from a soccer year to a player’s birth year. So now the players on a team will all be of the same birth year or younger. Players are grouped by age level and then by skill level. A U11 player can play with a U12 team, but a U12 player cannot play on a U11 team.
